Ajay

Ajay Gulati Co-Founder, CEO and Board Member

Ajay leads ZeroStack’s innovative team and corporate strategy. Ajay was a senior architect and R&D lead at VMware where he designed flagship products including Storage I/O control, Storage DRS and DRS. He has been recognized as a prolific inventor by his peers and has more than a dozen patents to his name. Ajay has consulted with multiple startups including Nimble Storage and Velocloud Networks.

Ajay has a Ph.D. from Rice University and a B.S. from IIT Kharagpur.

Kiran

Kiran Bondalapati    Co-Founder, CTO and Board Member

Kiran is responsible for driving ZeroStack’s product innovation. Kiran was a founding engineer at Bromium where he architected Bromium’s security solution based on radically new techniques with hardware virtualization. Earlier, at AMD, he developed fundamental underpinnings for  virtualization and power management impacting a wide spectrum of computing, from data centers to laptops.

Kiran has a Ph.D. from University of Southern California and a B.S. from IIT, Delhi.

Sean-Cardenas

Sean Cardenas Sales and Operations

Sean is responsible for driving ZeroStack’s domestic & international sales strategy. Prior to joining ZeroStack, Sean was the Vice President of Sales at Coho Data and held sales leadership positions at industry-defining companies including NetApp, Data Domain, and Nutanix.  Sean graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics.

Steve-Garrison

Steve Garrison Marketing

Steve Garrison leads go-to-market, market creation experience and brand development strategies at ZeroStack, and is a seasoned Information Technology executive with nearly 20 years of technology marketing experience. Steve has held global marketing positions at several public and venture-backed companies, including Pica8, Infoblox (NYSE: BLOX) , Force10 Networks (acquired by Dell, Inc.) and Riverstone Networks (acquired by Alcatel-Lucent). He holds an MS in Materials Science Engineering from MIT, and a BS in Ceramic Science and Physics from Alfred University.

Rosa_Lin

Rosa Lin Finance and Operations

Rosa holds responsibility for the Finance and Operation functions at ZeroStack. Previously, Rosa has had leadership roles at VMware, Cisco-Webex and Sigma Designs focusing on top-line growth  and margin improvement. Rosa earned a MS in Finance, Investment and Banking from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a BS in Economics from National Taiwan University.

Ashu Garg

General Partner, Foundation Capital

Ashu Garg is a General Partner at Foundation Capital, focusing on startups in MarTech, Analytics, and SaaS applications. He currently serves on the board of directors for a number of companies including TubeMogul, Localytics, and Conviva.

Mark Leslie

Board member

Mark Leslie is currently the managing director of Leslie Ventures, a private investment company. He is also a Lecturer in Management at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Mark Leslie was the founding Chairman and CEO of Veritas Software.

During his tenure as CEO, the company went from 12 employees to 6,000 employees deployed globally, and from a revenue base of $95,000 per year to $1,500,000,000 per year.  In 2000, Veritas was the tenth largest independent software company by revenue, third largest by market capitalization, and achieved the distinction of becoming a Fortune 1000 company. From 1980 until 1990, he served as president and chief executive officer of two Silicon Valley high- tech startup companies. Mark currently serves on the board of Model N (NYSE: MODN), and a number of privately held high-technology corporations including Interana, Liquid Robotics, PernixData, StratoScale, Sugar CRM, ZeroStack and Zerto. Mark received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physics and mathematics from New York University in 1966 and completed Harvard Business School’s program for management development in 1980.

Shirish Sathaye

Board member

Shirish Sathaye is a General Partner at Formation 8.  He focuses on investments in next-generation enterprise software, cloud-based software, wireless and wireline networking, storage infrastructure and systems.

Prior to Formation 8, Shirish was a General Partner at Khosla Ventures from 2010 to 2013 and a General Partner at Matrix Partners from 2001 to 2010.  Shirish’s prior investments include Aruba Networks (NASDAQ:ARUN), Nutanix, Grandis (acquired by Samsung), Solidcore Systems (acquired by McAfee), Panzura, Kumu Networks, and Vectra Networks.

Shirish’s investing career was preceded by a long operating career at technology companies.  He helped build two venture-backed companies, FORE Systems and Alteon Websystems, and led the design and development of their core products.  Both companies pioneered important new product categories and had very successful IPOs.  Shirish ran the Engineering Group at FORE Systems, a pioneer in ATM Switched Networks.  FORE went public in 1994 and was eventually sold to Marconi for $4 billion.  In 1997 Shirish joined Alteon Websystems, which created the server-load-balancer product category, as its VP of Engineering and later, its CTO.  Alteon went public in 1999 and was acquired by Nortel for $7.8 billion.  Shirish began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation first in the Semiconductor group and then in the Network Architecture & Software Group.

Shirish has a Ph.D in Electrical & Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, an MSEE from Virginia Tech, and a Bachelors Degree in Electronics Engineering from IIT-BHU, Varanasi, India.

mohit

Mohit Aron

Founder and CEO, Cohesity

Mohit Aron is the Founder and CEO of Cohesity Inc. He is regarded as the pioneer of hyper-convergence, the first architecture to converge compute and storage to simplify virtualization.

Aron founded the infrastructure company Nutanix to bring hyper-convergence to market and served as its CTO before leaving to build Cohesity. Mohit worked as a Staff Engineer at Google from 2003 to 2007, where he helped design the company’s innovative Google File System. He also served as Architect at AsterData, a leading big data analytics company that was later acquired by Teradata. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Rice University.

As President and Chief Executive Officer, Justin is responsible for ScaleArc’s day-to-day operations and leading the company’s go-to-market strategy. Justin also served as ScaleArc’s President and COO from Dec 2011 to Sept 2013.

He received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Justin also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1992-1998.

Mike Dvorkin is a recognized thought leader in policy driven automation and operations. Mike’s work focus is on policy abstraction models and intent-based nonlinear automation methods applied to all aspects of infrastructure, applications and operations.

He is a founder of Noiro project at Cisco focusing on bringing policy abstraction to open source networking, containers and storage. Prior to Noiro Mike was a co-founder and chief scientist of Insieme Networks where he was responsible for conceptualization of the policy layer that is now part of Cisco ACI/APIC. Before Insieme, as part of the early engineering team at Nuova Systems, he was the architect behind the management and control plane of UCS server platform, the first intent-defined server platform. Prior to Nuova Mike held a number senior technical positions at infrastructure startups. Mike holds a degree in Computer Science from University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign.

Umesh Maheshwari

Co-founder and CTO, Nimble Storage

Umesh Maheshwari has over 20 years of experience building networked storage systems. Before founding Nimble Storage, he was a technical director at Data Domain, responsible for the core areas of deduplication and clustering.

As an early engineer at Data Domain, he built significant parts of the Data Domain file system and replication protocol. Previously, Umesh was at Zambeel, a maker of scalable file servers, where he was responsible for clusterizing the metadata service and for automating the cluster network configuration. Before Zambeel, he was at InterTrust, a pioneer in digital rights management, where he built a patented tamper-resistant database system. Umesh holds a PhD in computer science from MIT, where he researched storage management in distributed transactional systems. He also holds a BTech in computer science from IIT Delhi, where he received the President’s Gold Medal as the top graduating student.

Denis is responsible for leading the company’s global sales operations and team with a goal to increase engagement and customer acquisition across the enterprise. Adit Singh joined Foundation Capital as a Partner in August 2013. His areas of interest span enterprise IT infrastructure, systems, software and services. He has invested in companies in cloud computing, data center, networking, management, security and virtualization.

Carl Waldspurger

Independent Consultant, Ex-Principal Engineer, VMware

Carl Waldspurger is an independent consultant, working primarily with early-stage startups.  For over a decade, he was responsible for core resource management and virtualization technologies at VMware.

Carl led the design and implementation of processor scheduling and memory management for the ESX hypervisor, and was the architect for VMware’s Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS).  Prior to VMware, he was a researcher at the DEC Systems Research Center.  Carl holds a Ph.D. in computer science from MIT.
